March Update

Over the last month the ICC has been preparing and refurbishing new safe houses with more to follow. ICC safe houses offer shared and/or family bedrooms with kitchen and bathroom facilities.

We currently support people from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt and Kurdistan. In partnership with Care International, our resident-refugees are given cash cards to buy food and cover their personal expenses whilst they establish themselves in Greece.

Samaritans Purse have blessed the ICC greatly with furniture for our properties and volunteers to refurbish new ones. We have set a high standard for our refugee accommodation which is now recognised as among the best in Athens.

Please pray for our developing relationship with UNHCR as we work together to raise the profile of religious minorities as vulnerable groups, develop protection policies and spotlight unique problems Christian refugees face. This is an amazing opportunity requiring prayer and wisdom as God's favour has truly opened an important door.

ICC in Brussels

Later this month the ICC will be presenting in the European Parliament. We have been asked to speak on the plight of Christian minorities within the refugee population. This will include highlighting the EU's current failure to recognise their vulnerability and make representation for policy change. Please pray hearts and minds will be opened to listen and act.

Volunteer

Last month we opened an apartment especially for volunteers who wish to come and give their time and talents to support Christian refugees here in Athens.

A volunteer page is on the website which will tell you more. The apartment accommodates up to six people with one double room, and four bunk beds in another, shared kitchen and bathroom. No charge is made, but we do ask for donations to cover apartment running costs and contribute towards the work of the ICC.

We particularly need people with good DIY and decorating skills over these next few months who are willing to brave driving in Athens! Also, people with language skills in Greek, Arabic, Farsi, Dari or Kurdish.

You can volunteer for a week, two weeks or longer.  Click here to read more.
